Red wine is not only a sophisticated drink—it can also work as a beauty super-aid. Full of antioxidants such as resveratrol and flavonoids, red wine can work to combat ageing, brighten up dull skin, and even combat acne. Here’s how you can use red wine to make your skin brighter, smoother, and healthier.

1. Slow Down Ageing and Firm Your Skin

Red wine might keep skin elastic and curb premature signs of ageing. Antioxidants in red wine repair collagen and make elastic fibers stronger, avoiding sagging and blurring fine lines. Using it regularly—either as food in your diet in moderation or used topically—improves circulation and makes your skin appear tauter with time.

Tip: To try an easy anti-ageing treatment, wet a cotton swab with red wine and just wipe it lightly across cleaned-up skin. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then wash off.

2. Revitalize Dull Skin with a Red Wine Facial

If your complexion appears exhausted, a red wine mask will restore its radiance. Combine red wine with mashed strawberries, rosehip oil, and a small amount of grape pulp. Massage the mixture on your face for 10 minutes, then wash it off with cold water. This treatment softly exfoliates and moisturizes your skin, making it fresh and luminous.

3. Combat Acne and Clear Your Pores

Due to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, red wine can prevent acne and keep pores clean.

How to Use: Soak a cotton pad in red wine and apply it to the areas that are prone to breakouts. Leave it for 15–20 minutes, then rinse. Alternatively, spritz red wine onto your face and massage for a couple of minutes to clear impurities and balance excess oil.

4. Give Your Skin a Nutrient-Rich Treat

Red wine face masks are great for refining skin texture and minimizing tanning. For added gain, customize the blend to your skin type:

  • Sensitive skin: Blend rose water with red wine.
  • Dry skin: Combine almond paste with red wine.
  • Oily skin: Blend a small amount of aloe vera gel with red wine.
  • These blends detoxify the complexion, firm pores, and enhance hydration, all while providing the antioxidants your skin needs.

5. Moisturize Dry Skin with Wine Treatments

If you have dry, flaky skin, sweet white wines with alpha-hydroxy acids can seal in moisture. The natural acids are water-binding agents that keep skin soft and smooth.

Recommended choices: Chateau D’Ori Sauvignon Blanc, Michel Lynch Bordeaux, or Sula Riesling. Just wet a cotton pad and sweep over clean skin, or combine with your favorite hydrating mask.
